How to work with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
Background
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is a law adopted in 2023 that will start to be enforced in late 2026, to ensure that products sold in or exported from the European Union do not contribute to global deforestation or forest degradation. Its core objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect biodiversity, and clean up global supply chains by cutting the EU’s link to deforestation.
The EUDR regulation applies to seven major commodities and many products derived from them: cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, rubber, and wood — plus items like beef, chocolate, tires, furniture, and leather. The law creates new legal responsibilities for anyone placing products on the EU market — including retailers, especially if they import or sell products containing any of the covered commodities.
Under the regulation, primary operators (importers, manufacturers) must provide a due diligence statement, including geolocation data of farms and risk assessments. Retailers who source products already in the EU often fall into the category of downstream operators, meaning they do not file due diligence themselves but must verify that a compliant due diligence statement exists
To make suppliers and retailers compliant with the EU Deforestation Regulation it is possible to send Due Diligence Statement reference and verification numbers in PRICAT and Despatch Advice messages.
Due Diligence Statement properties
Due Diligence Statement reference and verification numbers can be sent in PRICAT and Despatch Advices messages. Below is reference to our integration guidelines for each property. Enrichment of this data from PRICAT to Despatch Advice is possible.

Despatch Advice:
Working in the BOP user interface
In the Despatch Advice interface, we have input fields for Due Diligence Statement reference and verification numbers. The new fields a found under the shipping notification tab in the Despatch Advice. Expand an SKU or all at once to open the input fields.

Input validations
Due Diligence Statement reference and verification numbers must follow the accepted standard of the EU Traces Database meaning capital letters A-Z and numbers 0-9. Any unaccepted values will result in a validation error.

Copy to
In most cases a whole model will share the same Due Diligence Statement reference and verification numbers. The "copy to" functionality lets users copy already entered values to all instances of that model or all instances of that SKU within the Despatch Advice.
